Suzanne Lindquist Honored at Student Resource Center Opening
By: Charles Lindquist
The MarketStar Student Resource Center (MSRC) at James Madison Elementary in Ogden, Utah, opened with speeches from Ogden School District Superintendent, the Director of Ogden School Foundation, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
While MSRC represented the combined efforts of the MarketStar Foundation, the Ogden School Foundation, and the Ogden School District, it owes a great deal of its success to the generous donations of service and material from local contractors, and the financial contributions of businesses and community leaders, such as Social Construct Board Member, Suzanne Lindquist.
Lindquist, recognized along with her two sons and their respective families, was not only a contributor but gathered additional community donations and support to help build the center.
MSRC is a facility to lend short-term support to the families of students in need. Available through MSRC are food, clothing, household goods, and, of course, school supplies. About the variety of offerings, Lindquist had this to say, “When we think about school children who need help, we imagine books and paper and pencils. What we don’t consider is how we can help support children at home. The Student Resource Center provides household supplies, clothes and food for families of students. We are meeting a critical need.” An online ordering system gives students, regardless of need, the ability to view and access the goods available at MSRC.
Coincidentally, the opening tour of MSRC was the last official event for SCI summer intern Shelby VanAusdal. In farewell, Lindquist had this to say about VanAusdal, “Shelby was great from day one. Her two biggest impacts have been Boys & Girls Club and Ogden School Foundation as a volunteer and ambassador.” On that note, from everyone at Social Construct and SafeSocial, good luck in school and your future endeavors.
